Developing Sustainable Tourism in Iran project is co-founded by the European Union as part of its programme of cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Italian NGOs

Sustainable Tourism Iran Project is implemented by a partner consortium led by Atlantide, an italian Organization with extensive experience of networking, education, civic engagement, and developing responsible tourism offers based on cultural and natural heritage protection.​

ITACA, an Italian organization that provides technical and business development support to entrepreneurs and social enterprises, operating in marginalised urban areas, especially start-ups – in responsible tourism, agriculture, home based business, service industry, heritage protection.​

Italian partners Necos

NECOS (Civil Society Network for Cooperation and Solidarity), an international network of non-governament organizations that specialize in building public awareness and local capacity in participated, inclusive and suistanable development and promoting international cooperation for dialogue, integration and enhanced mutual understanding.​

Iranian organisations

An Iranian partner of Sustainable Tourism in Iran project is Plan for the Land. It’s a national level organization based in Kish Island that fasters partecipatory and suistanable local development aimed to protect and promote local resources.​

Iranian partner Marefat

Marefat Pardis Toos, a Mashhad-based Iranian non-governament organization working with local authorities and communities on safeguarding local resources and supporting local socio-economic development, including responsible tourism for cultural and religious heritage protection.​

The International Department of Cultural Commission of the Mashhad City Council will specifically participate in developing a strategy and action plan for local cultural and religious heritage protection and responsible tourism development.​
